Charity Projects

Our members have a strong commitment to the Kansas City community and beyond. Below are the on-going projects we contribute to in order to support individuals and families in need, as well as other non-profit organizations. See the sub-page for SSK 2.0 information for our social service knitting projects.

  • University Health, Behavioral Health Group Home-Knitting and Fiber Arts Group
Two group homes in Northeast Kansas City, MO are supporting adults who have a mental health and/or substance abuse diagnosis who have recently been houseless. These two group homes support participants in finding creative ways to manage stress and build success/esteem through fiber arts. Bilateral brain activity helps reset reactivity toward a place of calm. Sunflower Knitters has donated supplies of yarn, project bags, and notions to support this group and their success.
